Duluth, MN Maternity and Newborn Photography | {Samantha’s Maternity Session}

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful times in a woman’s life as well as the most anxious and perhaps slightly overwhelming with all the things her body has to do to prepare for the precious cargo to arrive.  I shot Samantha’s lovely maternity session last night – just in time before the SNOW comes our way. Had the hardest time picking out what to post – so many favorites!♥

Sam and Al decided NOT to find out what they are having – either way they are in for a big surprise:)

Duluth, MN Wedding Photography | {Mike & Lindsay}

I have been getting to know these two beautiful people over the the last year or so. Lindsay and Mike are the most laid-back, easy going people you’ll meet. Their wedding day was filled with joy, love and laughter. I’ve never met a big Greek family quite like this one – until now. They all took part in making this day special for Mike and Lindsay including florals and bride’s hair and make up by Mike’s cousins. Lindsay and Mike, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your big day and many happy years to you♥

Duluth Wedding Photography {French Country Vintage Vineyard Styled Shoot}

This styled shoot started with the dream – one night I woke up at 2 a.m. because I needed to get out what was brewing in my head -no pawn intended- went into my office and started drawing sketches of the dress, the veil, the location, the set up. Few months and lots of sleepless nights later all my ideas came together in one beautiful shoot.  I wanted to use fresh and timeless white and green palette, vintage lace gown, puffy veil and a classic looking bride, and most importantly – I wanted a vineyard – even though I haven’t heard of one in existence in northern MN.  Then one day I was visiting my friend Juli’s house and had a conversation with her mom who just happened to have planted a new experimental vineyard in Barnum, MN – the only one in our area.  I HAD to ask her if I could do a shoot there!  Cheryl graciously agreed.  I was looking for a couple that would convey the sense of love that’s fresh and innocent and Maddy and AJ did just that.  Maddy is professional ballerina full of grace and poise and AJ just looks like he stepped out of the 1950’s movie – I couldn’t have asked for anything better.  They understood every direction in which I wanted to pose them and delivered beautiful results in the shortest amount of time possible – 45 minutes to be exact since it rained all day earlier and we only had so much time before the sundown. I used a mix of natural and delicate elements like twine, brown craft paper, burlap and lace for styling.   Our wonderful baker came up with the macaroon cake idea and other traditional french desserts. This shoot turend out to be everything I dreamed of and more. Onc more heartfelt THANK YOU  to everyone who was a part of it ♥

I LOVE everything paper – so I used paper elements allthroughout styling, including the vintage newspaper wraps for the baguettes♥

I went back and forth on the neck jewelery choices and opted for the lace collard instead – couldn’ t have been happier with how it complemented the whole look.

Hawaii Destination Wedding Photography {“Simply Bloom” Workshop}

Worthy of a mention: my husband Stuart is obsessed with an idea of living on Hawaiian islands. So every time “Hawaii” comes up in a conversation with him I have to state yet another reason as to why we can’t move there.   Too far, too in the middle of the ocean, too much of a change. Well, this time it took little convincing into taking another trip there: he was going to enjoy his favorite place on earth and meet up with some old friends and I was going to a photography workshop, so it was a win-win;) Both of our birthdays are in November, so we decided to give ourselves a tropical paradise of a birthday present: a trip to Oahu. In November of 2011 I ended up spending some great time with two incredibly talanted photographers Vania and Christine of Simply Bloom – hosts of the workshop along with one of the best wedding stylists in the wedding industry Jill LaFleur and six talented photographers that attended the event: Rebecca Arthurs, Brittany Hildebrandt,  Nichole and Francesca of Ampersand Studios and Anna Cunningham of Sweet Hope Photography  who traveled all the way from Australia for the workshop.

Scene on Makapuu beach was absolutely breathtaking: seafoam and peach palette, breezy tipi, whimsical bride and groom and paradise surroundings – it felt surreal…

It was an incredible day and an incredible experience♥
